Hello Guys

Sorry for the no update I've been very busy!

The beginning of Feburary I was recovering from my surgery. That was a very weird exprience. The day after my surgery it snowed a ton! I love playing in snow! Its like white and fluffy and I can eat it! The day after my playing in the snow my surgery spot got infected so we had to visit the vet so I could get meds to help it. It was really hurtin! BUT Im now fully recovered and in full playing mode!

I haven't gone out in public lately because this white stuff makes us stuck in the house no one can go any where. Thats ok with me because I love having everyone home. You know what I have been missing ..... a dog! I have had no dogs to play with all week.

BTW my buddies Bouse, Eska and Pecos will be visitng me this week so I will be romping around in the snow with them all weekend!

Hello Folks,

I'm typing up my blog before I head to bed... I had a busy day!

Today I went to church and I tried to behave I kinda acted goofy.. I wonder why.... oh! my mother didn't feed me before we went to I was kinda hungry!! I was not too happy about that, but when I got home I got lots of food and water so I was satisified with that.

Then I had puppy class that was very exciting I got lots of treats and I got to hang out with my buddies!. I was so happy to see Bliss, Bouse, Caleb, Custer, Kahn, Stintson and Pecos!!! I love my CCI pals... speaking of pals my best buddy John came over last night to play with me that was exciting!.

This week is a big week for me! I'm geting neuter, not sure what that is but I guess I will find out soon. So most my week will be recovering..

I had dinner now its time for bed!.

Hello guys!

I have some fanastic news to tell you! I get to stay with my PR family for an extra three months. I was suppose to be turned in May 2010 I got a notice saying I do not have to go to college til Aug 2010. Which means I get to spend all summer with my PR family. I'm sure I will get to go on many adventures. Oh now that my mommy has a camera that works I'm sure she will be documenting all my activities.

I went to puppy class the other week, that was such an easy class. Guess what though!! I got treats for things I already know how to do. I got to hang out with Bliss, shes in training too, and shes a cutie ;).

Yesterday I had a presentation to do at a church, many kids were there to see me and my buddy Finney. I was the demo dog I showed off all my commands, while Mr. Finney laid there getting all the attention.

At the end of January I'm getting surgery for something I think something(s) getting amputated not sure what just I hope its not my legs.

Then next month its an exciting month some of my "college" professors (CCIU) are coming down to do some big workshop, I think that means I get to see a bunch of my classmates haha. PAWTY PAWTY time!

I got to go to bed now!! I'm exhausted!

"Ello"!

I'm doing well updating my blog!

Yesterday Jan 10 I went to church, I think I like going to church and I also think my family has learned not to leave me at home when they are at church. Reason WHY? Last Sunday the family was in a rush to go to church and Emily put me in the crate, but guess what?? this crate has two openings. Well she locked the front one. I think I waited til they left the neighborhood ( i could hear when they left it, i have super ears) and I saw my mommy wasn't too smart she forgot to lock the side one. Oh my goodness I had a blast having the house to myself. Me and the house had a party. I checked out the trash cans not too much good stuff in there besides tissues (yummy). Then I went downstairs and decided to check out a gift basket with lots of paper ALREADY shredded even better for me. In the baskets I ate unpopped popcorn, tootsi rolls, paper, gummies, and more paper! Unfornately what goes in most come out, I believe thats why the next three days of "hurrying" was rough.

Oh when family got home I was so excited to see them I brought them a roll of toliet paper!! so exciting.

Thats reason I went to church yesterday. It was fun though I got petted by alot of kids. Some reason kids like hairy things on four legs weird but I'm loving it!

AND thats my sunday!

Monday January 11 I went to a coffee get together with Emily's mom ( grandmom) and a her friend. I was behaved besides the practicing "lap" too much, with out being told. I have to work on listening better. I just enjoy being on peoples laps. I don't get why they don't always like it. I think it maybe that I leave hair all over them, but hey thats my gift to them so when they leave they got a little of me.! After I got home it was time to relax in front of the door , sunbathing.

Today was an awesome day I got to spend the day at a field running around, John threw the ball around for me to chase good excerise!. Then we went to Petco to get me big boy food. I was told when I turn 1 years old I switch to Eukanunba Adult Large Breed food. John was nice enough to even brush me with the furminator!!! It felt so great!!! He's a keeper!

Also I was weighed today I NOW weigh 61 lbs!!! WOOT!

Hello guys! This is Hercules!

I haven't been on a while because I've been busy eating like a goat! Yes I have to admit I do enjoy eating everything in sight!

Update on me I just turned 1 January 5th; I had big emergency surgery in October; i got a skin infection; I finally have gained weight now weighing 57lbs!. My mommy has been seeing a guy that loves to spoil me, and he like rolling around on the floor with me, hes good!. It snowed a ton in December and I got to run around in it! I get to go out in public more!. I have 5 month til college! I dont think I'm quite ready for it, All my family members have been home for the holidays which is awesome!

Life is going well!!!!!

Big Sorry for No update!

Hercules is doing well! He is now 40lbs and still growing!

This past week Hercules got his offical CCI vest, so now Hercules can go out in public.

Hercules now goes to church and to the outdoor mall with us.

Hercules has a personality like Oswego which is good, very laid back, and follows directions well.

Next month some one will be getting neuter and will be celebrating 6months old.

BIG NEWS!: Hercules breedercare taker came by to visit him. She rode across the US on bike!.

We have some really good pictures of our handsome boy!

Hopefully this will inspire Hercules to work hard.

Oswego is being placed with a young man is Matthew, age 25, from NJ. He is in grad school, studying education. He is at NER with his Mom who is a PR. He sometimes uses a wheelchair and sometimes uses crutches with his leg prostheses. Katrina says he is a "bi-lateral amputee".

Hey guys, sorry for the no update. I have been enjoying this nice weather lately.

Last weekend I went camping, it was really exciting because I was in the woods. I could run free, smell everything, and drinking everything. It was a long drive.

I went to my very first non-CCI puppy class, and boy there were many dogs of different shapes, sizes and colors! It was awesome. Of course I was the best behaved boy there. Thanks to my mom who has control of me.

I now weigh in at 30lbs, and I have giant rabbit legs haha. Now that I'm old enough I can go socialize more with other dogs. I went to a house and chased a dog around and drink as much water as I could. Speaking of water I drank so much that I could hear my tummy jiggle hehe.

I know now sit, down, wait, release. Slowly learning speak. I do all my business outside, and behave inside (sometimes).

Mommy has to get some pictures up but they will be up soon.

From mommy: Oswego, who use to own this blog is now in Team Training, and has a very high chance of graduating as a service dog! May 16 in Long Island New York. Its very exciting!!

Hello guys. Happy Easter!! Not sure what thats was, but it involved eggs and bunny. HAHA.

Today I spent the morning home while everyone went to church. Then after that we went down the easter parade. I have never seen so many people in my life with hats on and dogs in there hands. WHOA!! The best part was there was free water. Mommy says iam OCD with water. WHATEVER..

My buddies, Peg, and Gracie were over. and also Solly. Now.. I dont get Solly its like he's been to our house already. DANG! Is he a smart guy. Hes extremely big, so mom calls him KING SOLOMAN! These girls Peg ( Released CCI pup) and Gracie were over playing and boy.. they have tired me out!

Hello guys, Sorry I did not tell you about yesterday, I had to recover fully from the vet visit. It was interesting. Well the young lady like looked at me, picked me up. She felt my stomach, and check down there. She checked my knees and my belly button. It was all going well til!...... she poked me in the butt with something really sharp, and it was a little scary.
Then I got another shot in my shoulder. It was all ok, until they got me back in my crate, and boy did i feel those pokes. It was like a bee stung me ouch!! I screamed really loudly and my mommy looked at me, and told me to tough it up. OUCH!
Mom says I did not have any worms YIPPEE! Then I was given this yummie yellow stuff, it taste like a banana I just got the other day. So I got to go home and recover and sleep for the rest of the night! It was awesome. I hope I never have to do that again!

I had a long day today, but I am going to save that for next blog.

Hello my friends, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing great!

Its been raining all weekend, so that mean't that I did not get hang outside too much. BUT luckily Sunday it was like really really warm, and sunny. I enjoyed it, I got to hang outside and play alot. Mommy took me on a walk around the neighborhood. Also yesterday I got to go to church and met people. I think I wasn't offically working, I was just being cute. I got passed around to a bunch of people, alot of people were kissing me and petting me. Yesterday was long, and I enjoyed it!.

Hi guys, I have been so busy lately. You know what I've been doing. Busy playing and working, my day is filled with 45% playing, 20% work, and 35% eating and sleeping. HEHE. I really know how to get Mardene tired. My mom knows how to get me tired too! She works me, I have to walk around with a gentle leader on, without complaining its hard stuff. Then yesterday she made me lay down for FOREVER (30minutes) with out moving. I think I was suppose to stay there. Being a working dog is tough! haha. I only have one bad thing to say, I learned how to drink out of the toilet!. But I think my mom is trying to prevent me because! every time I find the toilet it is shut!.
Mom told me if I hurry outside every time, my reward is some water. Which works out for me!

I got a picture of my brother Hyde today, and boy he is a big boy! I hope to be big like him too!

First puppy class

Hello, guys today was my first puppy class. Man is was so exciting I got to play and get alot of attention. There were about six dogs that look like me except GIANT!. It was hard to keep up with them, but I tried the best I could. I learn to walk on the leash nicely, and wear my gentle leader properly. I thought puppy class was all fun, and little learning and thats sweet! I can not wait til my next class.

After class today I walked around the neighborhood visiting many neighbors and their pets, some liked me and some did not. ( I am talking about the pets) (The two legged people loved me.)
Thats alright with me, I know I am little and can be annoying hehe.
Once we finished visiting everyone I ate dinner and took a long nap.

Its now 10:15 pm, and I am ready to play !!!

Hello, my friends guess what ?????

I have been here, in Richmond, for a whole 7 days. YUPPIE!!!!
Today the sun came out , and it was so exciting. I got to run around the block, and play with a few of my two legged friends.
Yesterday my mom introduced me to a thing called a gentle leader. Its this string thing that goes on my nose and around my head. Its a little weird but great thing is that I get to wear it every time I eat so I forget about it easily. Also in the mail, I got my baby cape. Its like a fabric thing that just goes on me. I think I look great in it, even though it does not fit, hopefully I will grow into it.

This coming Sunday will be my first puppy class, not sure what to expect, but I heard that many dogs will be there.

Hello, So I was thinking I came from California where its like really warm there. Well I did not know my new home would be so cold and wet outside. For the last couple of days since I, who now is known as Hercules, has been here, it has be yucky and wet. BUT thats a good thing, see being a puppy I am limited water, so every chance I get outside I drink the water on the driveway and out of the puddles. Little do I know that its cold outside and the water is cold too, so every time I come in I shiver cause its all so cold!. Then that means my mommy has to wrap me up in a blanket and warm me up, hehe its fun! I do hope it warms up!

Hello my name is Hercules III, I'm a Golden Lab cross, I was born January 5, 2009. My parents are Luna and Camden. Mommy is a pure golden and daddy is a yellow lab with a big head. I'm in training to be a service dog for Canine Companions for Independence. Not sure what that is yet but I will find out later on in my life. I flew from Santa Rosa California, boy! can I say that was an adventure 10hrs by myself in a big crate and loud noises. I was so excited to be on land, and not moving.

I was greeted at the airport my new mommy, Emily who will be taking care of me for the next part of my life. Emily has a sister named Rachel and a mommy named Susan. I was also greeted by Mardene. Mardene ....I guess will be my sister for the next year, I think so. Mardene I think is in the same program that I'am in. She had a vest on, and was working.

I was so happy to see another dog, at first I thought Mardene was my mommy and had to check her out underneath I learned fast that she wasn't Mardene turned around and told me fast.

After all the greetings and flashes ( not sure what it was), I had a 20 minute drive to my real home, that seemed forever. I cried alittle on the way home, but eventually I settled down.

Once we got home I had more people that wanted to greet me, so I just did what I do best and look ADORABLE. FINALLY I got to eat dinner and go to sleep until 11pm, thats when I wanted to play again but everyone else was sleeping. Mardene didn't want to play with me.

Since I been here I have learn to be more independent, there so much to check out. I am getting called by this weird name, HERCULES. Hey whenever I look at Emily when she says that crazy name I get a treat. YEPPIE!!!

As you can figure out I'm in charge of my blogging. So enjoy. I believe its time for my nap.

Back to School already!!!

Time sure does fly by fast.

Oswego is now 15months old, and is doing very well. He has been going to work with me to practice his skills he has worked on.
He hangs out at the front desk of the Animal Hospital. Oswego has fallen in love with his Little Sister Mardene. They sleep and do everything together,
Tomorrow Oswego has to go to the vet for his yearly vaccines. Oswego weighs 75lbs, and his still growing. He has the most beautiful box head, and very handsome.

He's making good grades in school too!

Exciting news May 28, was my first birthday!!!
I got a lot of birthday wishes from my brothers and sisters! It was great! I got to go to school and chill ;not work to hard!
Well this week the weather has gotten warmer, and being in Virginia it was HUMID.
My mommy got the baby pool out for Mardene and I to swim in. It felt GRRREAT!

Most amazing thing Happened to take my mommy took me to the RIVER! It had a lot of rocks that I had to climb but I did well.

Oswego's story.

Hello, ya'll I went to bed just like an old time, I guess it was 2am when I woke up, I went down stairs to find my mommy in her hand was a yellow puppy. How many people come home at night with a puppy? I was alittle confused, this yellow fur ball just comes walking in my house thinking she owns the place, well I had to show her who's boss in the house, a gave her a nip and then kinda of ran her over. I didn't mean to hurt her I just wanted to show that Iam here. I don't like her much because she has a different sense in her. I think she may be staying for good. My mommy does pet sitting so Iam use t dogs going and coming, oh well not this one.

Yesterday my mother got all dressed up, because she had a Prom(?) I don't know what that is, but something where you get dressed up and a man brings roses. I even got my picture taken with her,I didn't show up to well cause he dress was navy blue.
But it was all good til puppy showed up, Oh yes puppy has name Mardene.

THE DOOR!!!

Well Oswego has a new issue. He freaks out about doors, when he was younger he got his tail caught in a double door. We thought he gotover it but just this passed month Oswego is freaking out about doors opening and closing near him. He very unsure of doors, when his incident happened we didn't baby him we just continue doing what we were doing.

Today I feed him in between double doors, it took him a few minutes to eat his dinner, he was very focused on the door. The reason for feeding him dinner there was he had two freak incidents in one week.

- Sunday he was coming into the porch and I was holding the door for him, it moved alittle and he threw himself into the porch table set. I think he thought it was going to shut on him.

- Today he was resting near our pantry when someone went over to open the door and he jumped 2ft off the ground. I know it surprised him but it was a bigger surprise when he saw it was a door.

So our goal is positive reinforcement around the doors, and getting him to relax.

good/bad news

Well good news were getting a new puppy to raise!
We will be getting HER May 19. Her name is Mardene, she is a Yellow GLX. Iam excitied to get a yellow puppy cause today Oswego scaried about 4 people cause he was so quiet and they didn't even notice him until they walked by and saw paws.

Saddly I couldn't wait for Hilani to have her puppies.
But look forward to hearing more about her soon to be litter.

Iam going to say this is Oswego birthday present.

Summer is coming...

Today we went to check out the Build-Bear, and Oswego came with us. As soon as week started walking through the mall(outdoor) he was struggling with the heat of the sun. So I had to stop and let him cool off alot. Living in Virginia mid 80's is great! for the people. When the summer comes and its 95 degrees with 75% humidity Oswego is going to have to learn to deal with it. After being at the mall for an hour, the sun just exhausted him.
With the black labs we have to take extra precautions with the summer.
-I would sugguest carrying a spray bottle around. Spraying the bottom of the feet helps them cool over. Spraying the outter flap of the ear.
-Remember to watch out your dog, so they don't overheat.
-Always remeber to check the temperature of the pavement, make sure not to stand on black pavement too long. Example of easily doing that is when your talking to someone, just move on the the grass.
-Water, Water, Water

I personally don't remember being as worried with my yellow lab. I feel like I am not going to want to take Oswego on long outtings this summer. I hope he can adjust to this.

Another bad report dealing with Oswego's health

Well we went to puppy class this week, and our instructor asked if Oswego is

having hip problems. That got me worried I asked why and she said his legs are

very stiff in the back. When we were walking around the carpet floors we could

hear Oswego back legs shuffle/dragging sound. So of course I am very puzzled on

what could be going on in the back legs.

Of course I needed another person to look at his walking and watch his back legs.

My teacher at The Veterinary Science class, described his walk as if he was an Old

Man who couldn't bend there knees. He's not relaxed when walking.

Now that two people had looked at him, I was trying to think in the past.

I didn't like taking Oswego out in public because he could never keep up at my

pace. Iam not tall or fast it was like he was struggling to keep up.

So long time puppy raiser took him over this weekend to check it out and observe

him. If she does see something so will take him up to North East Region

headquarters in New York when the May turn-in is, so they can check him out and

do their own test. Hopefully this isn't going to effect his dream of becoming a

service dog.

We will find out the verdict tomorrow when we get him back.

Report....then story

Sorry, I haven't gotten the report up, we have been so busy going places and going to Veterinary Emergency clinics(long story).

Oswego did great in Washington DC, he had one potty accident. Jane said that he did very well, wasn't distracted by much. He loved getting dressed up with his tuxedo to the formal ball.
He got a present for being so good, he got a cardinal red collar, very cute!
We also got a present from Jane for letting her borrow Oswego, it was a dog tail you hang up on the wall and it holds leashes, very cute she got it at Ikea.

Welll.....
Last Wednesday it was just a long day.
By the end of the day we found out the difference between XYITOL vs SORBITOL.

That afternoon Oswego went up stairs to find me because I was cleaning my room, well he went into the wrong room, and had Diarrhea!. Well after that he felt much better and decided to rip everything of the dresser......Well in that mess he found a container with SUGAR FREE GUM/MINTS and ate it. Well that gave my my mother and I panic attack.....so we called the ASPCA Animal food Poision Control....they weren't much help....we called out vet and they said INDUCE VOMIT
(aftering hearing stories about what xyitol can do to your pets(scary)
After 4tablespoons of Hydro Perioxide, Oswego threw up 4cups worth of food and junk.......We could see what else Oswego had eaten that day that he wasn't suppose to.
Well we didn't see gum or mints, we thought it dissolved. Oswego hungout in the Bathtub for an hour. We noticed after letting him out he still wasnt right.

His gums were pale, very lethargic and dark urine. We took him to emergency vet clinic. We took the half eaten candy container.

Luckily the vet said that the gum/mints had sorbitol, not xyitol. Surprisingly Ice Breakers company doesn't use xyitol, because most do. Orbit,Wriggely, and Ice Cubes. So by the end of the night doctor said hydro perixoide made him very sickly. So Oswego went home with Flagyl and strict diet for meals.

For the next 2 days we cooked Oswego rice and chicken, until his stomach settled.

BAD news is that his bumps on his chins had reappeared, didn't have anything to do with his emergency thing.

Soo......SORBITOL makes diarrhea!! weird

What an exciting adventure :(

Your probably thinking we didn't need to take him to the Vet, we wanted to take extra precaution, we didn't care about paying an extra 200$ it was worth knowing that our boy was going to be ok, we learned stuff that evening.

Oswego has been very busy lately.
Last week oswego went to 'Real" school, with me. He did a great job! Didn't mind all the kids, that acted like they never seen a dog. I love having a black lab because I can sneak pass rooms with out kids noticing Oswego. OSwego does well when walking in the halls with a lot of students. My only worries is his bathroom issues. I make him go potty before going into the building but knowing Oswego he probably have to go again. So iam very carefully about watching him.
He loves sleeping, as soon as I sit down he goes to sleep. I think Oswego just went through another growth spurt. Everyone who had seen him the week before was surprised it was Oswego cause he was bigger. I know he has filled in more, but not grown tall.
Oswego has been spending time with other puppy raisers and thats great. They only complaint was about is whining. He also freaks out about big doors and his tail. When he was younger we got his tail caught in a heavy door, so hes very precauous about it
Oswego gets the greatest opportunity this coming week. A puppy raiser has invited him to go up to Washington Dc for a special convention thing. Solly our first puppy got to go with this puppy raiser last year, and he had a blast. The puppy raiser Jane, can't take her puppies because they are to young, right now she is puppy less. Washington DC will be great for Oswego to experience noise, crowds and work on his manners. I hope he gets to experience the Metro system. I know when Solly went he was distracted by birds and the planes flying.
So this week iam going to be puppy less!!! Except Iam not ...... I will be going to take this opportunity to do some dog sitting, so i can make some money for puppy #3

Uh Oh New puppy

ok....So were talking about a new puppy to raise. Another puppy raiser called my co-raiser (my mom) and asked if she wanted to co-raise with her. Except the problem is that I wanted a new puppy in Mid-July so i don't know if that will put me at risk of not getting a puppy.
My reason for getting a puppy is for my senior portraits. I would love for Oswego and a new yellow puppy to be in the picture with me. We will have to see about all the co-raising stuff, cause we can't forget that we have Oswego to deal with. We don't want the puppy to mess up Oswego growing up stage.
So we got to do discussing.

Well, the verdict was Oswego has bacteria on his chin, that was turning into an infection.
Luckily we can treat it with 4 pills a day and medicated shampoo. Good news he weighs 59lbs.
He was excitied to be a the vet clinic.
Unfornatelty the medicine were giving him make him drowsy. Thats not a good thing, he is always tired enough, know he is just sleeping all the time. Doc. Said its going to take 10days to heal, and hopefully it won't show up again.
If so it would be allergies, and when CCI hears allergies they are out!

Lets cross paws and hope it heals and we will never see it again!

Off we go to see the vet.
We have been really concerned about his chin acne....and before it gets worse were going to see what up with it. This is also good then we can find out how much Oswego really weights. My guess is that he weighs 57lbs. IDK.

Hey guys,
we found out that Oswego is going through man puberty b/c he has acne on his chin. They call it puppy puberty. He's alittle embarassed to have it. We have face cream for it but hasn't gone away yet. Funny thing is that its turning Oswego chins hairs white. He hides his chin alot. He doesn't itch.

Hello.
Last Week was an adventure for Oswego.
On Monday we dropped him off the stay at another puppy raisers home. He stayed there all week. He got to go on alot of errands, and he even went to vote on Tuesday. He spent most the week going back and forth to place to place. He hung out at a dance school for awhile didn't really enjoying it because of all the noise and tapping.
On Friday he came home, and was so tired....... That night i discovered that Oswego had an allergic reaction to something at the puppy raisers house. He has hives all over his chin. It was swollen and red. So were keeping a close eye on it. We are still puzzled on what would have cause that break out.
Saturday We had the pet Expo. It's our local humane society's big event of the year. Like 500-700 people show up with there pets. CCI had a table there, and we worked the table from 9-4.
While we were there Oswego passed his CANINE GOOD CITIZENSHIP TEST we were so happy for him. Especially since he wasn't even with us all week.
Best part of the Expo was meeting Elton and his family. Elton was so adorable. Makes me want to get a puppy again. His puppy raisers are very sweet. Elton looked just like Solly, with huge feet and big ears. I just loved it!
We got Oswego a special present it was a Tuxedo. So he could wear it to church and look very handsome.

To Top the week off Alexandria a CCI pup came over to visit Oswego. Alexandria is Oswego lover. They were both adorable. Alex looks like Oswego's sister except that she is twice as old.

Now Oswego is recovering from the weekend.

Brave Boy!

Today Oswego was very Brave.
Today while playing fetch out of the middle of Nowhere a pitbull came up and tried attack him. I was so mad at the dog. I tried to keep them seperate. The pitbull was going for Oswego's legs, biting at him. My guess was he wanted Oswego to fight back.
Oswego reacted very well, he just curled up and was very submissive. All he did was whimper/cry. It tramatized him for the day. He had his tail tucked under him for the longest time.

The Owner of the pit bull was very irresponsible. Not watching and their dog, especially off leash. I was shocked how the owner did nothing to help us.

Luckily Oswego did not get hurt, just scaried him.
I am going to watch him closely so hasn't cause him to fear anything.

Oswego is just sleeping.

Hello.

Oswego is now top dog in the house, which also means he is alone.

Solly went to his adoptive family today, and hopefully the 2week trial works out.

Oswego is confused. So to take his mind of the idea of Solly gone, we took him to "Dawgs in the Garden" is it out SPCA's local fundraiser. We went checked out all the dogs, Oswego was very tempted to eat treats off the ground, and say hi to every single dog that walked by. Other than that he was better than the Guide Eye dogs for the Blind, pups in training.

Now after that hour of excitment, he is exhausted, we put him down for a nap now.

Hey guys.

Oswego and I would like to share a game we like to play
It's called Hide n Seek.

The game is an excerise game for the Sit, Stay, and Here commands.

Oswego loves this game so much!

Here's how we play.
1) Oswego Sits, and Stays
2) I go in a different room, hide behind curtains, chairs, Tables, anything
3) Oswego "release" "Here"
4) Oswego runs arounds around the house, whinning, and yelping( in a good way)
5) Once he finds me, I tell him sit, and he gets kibble.
6) Then we do it again except I make him stay in the same room he found you.

Hopefully if you do this with your dog, they aren't as vocal as Mr. Oswego. He gets so frustrated sometime that he cries the entire time he's looking.

He's not to great at holding items, so we don't play fetch. Doesn't not like rolling.
But he's a pro at Here.

It's snowing!!!!!!!!1

Oswego came back to use yesterday. He had a long night. It was alot of moaning and whinning. He had a hard night. He was also upset he couldn't eat a full meal. He had to take it easy.
The doctor told us that Oswego has glue not stiches, so be careful. He can't go roll in the snow.
Its so beautiful.

Hello.
Its the morning of Oswego surgery.
Oswego was having a hard time excepting that he couldn't eat breakfast.
Doc. ordered us not to allow Oswego to eat after midnight.

We are dropping him off at our local animal shelter, who encourages people to neuter their pets. So their cost is low for neutering. At 8:30 we drop him off. and at 3:30 we are going to pick him up.

So lets wish Oswego does well.

Counting Down Days

Hello.

We are starting to count down the days until Oswego goes under the knife. Yes. Its that time.

Knowing Oswego I don't think hes going to really care about it.

Oswego, doesn't worry about much, except dinner time. Which is a good thing, Over the Holiday's Oswego turned 7 months.

Oswego has been learning how to Roll. Hasn't gotten the hang of it.

Oswego has also been starting something new. COUNTER SURFING. The reason he does it is because he is always on the look for dirt to eat. The dog is a dirt devil. Everytime he comes inside he has dirt up his nose. Its funny, but gross. He always smells bad because of the dirt. But we love him!

Hello, Its almost time......for Christmas and Solly to come home.

I think my family is more excitied about Solly coming home. Solly is a great Christmas present for my mother. She and him have such a strong bond, with each other.

Oswego's getting a excitied about, our excitiment, he doesn't know whats really going on. Hejust loves eating the wrapped christmas gifts and ribbons

Yesterday night Oswego took a bath, so he can smell nice for the Christmas eve service tonight at church and for Christmas morning.

We have been busy making gingerbread cookies, and Oswego has been helping. a bit too much

We have also been doing the Barnes and Noble gift wrapping.

Oswego, went on a tacky light tour. Oswego was great! He didn't care about the lighting and sounds of everything

Oswego seems not to care much about stuff except food and his toys

Lets hope Oswego has been good, Santas going to bring some stuff for him

Hey guys!
This weekend, Oswego and I went to the Grand Opening of PetCo. Since we were the first 30 customers we got free professional Pictures.
Oswego made it easier for the photographer, we watched someone else ahead of us, and it took them 4ever!!! Thanks to Oswego's good commands, all he did was Sit and Stay. I will upload Oswego's picture sometime soon.

Oswego has just learned how to carry stuff around. And drop.
This morning, Oswego was carrying around stuff animals, he was carrying shoes. I think he rearranged everything he could pick up. Since its the morning he has zoomies, and he is willing to do anything for breakfast. aka dinner. Oswego knows when its time to eat cause we alway ask him if its dinner time. Doesn't matter what time of day it is but he knows, dinner = food.

Oswego has been so busy, running errands, and christmas shopping.
Oswego has been great! In public, he doesn't really care, about loud noises, and different types of surfaces, I say he has no expression/reaction, towards anything.
Oswego, only had almost an accident. We were shopping and all the sudden to started to squat, well, I knew so I picked him up, and walked fast, towards the exit, well once we were outside he had to do a #2. It was a good save!.
He is still dealing, with ear problems, Ear drops once a day.

His training, has been going well. We Just started intermidate class.
Oswego just finally learned Kennel, with out any hand signals.
We are trying to do roll, he doesn't like doing it on command, but he does it all the time, when he is playing.
Oswego does not play fetch (" what kind of lab is this"?). He does like fetching his food bowl, which he shouldn't be doing.
My guess is he weighs about 41lbs.

Sad news we just heard that Oswego's brother Oregon just got released. Thats sad, but Oregon will have fun being a pet!

Its been getting very cold here. BUt i wish it would SNOW. I love to watch dogs react to snow. BUt living in Virginia, you never know.

Oswego does not like the cold. He's a big CHICKEN! Does not like going out at night, we have encourage him to go. Half then time he doesn't even go to the grass he does it on our porch stairs
I don't know if he is scared or he is just being L`A`Z`Y.

I have made an appointment for Oswego neutering. we say its his "christmas present" jokingly

Hey guys, we have been very busy. I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. Oswego enjoyed thanksgiving, he was happy to have alot of people over. He likes excitement.

Recently we have been dealing with a bad ear infection, in both ears. He is currently taking ear drops twice a day, they have improved alittle. Oswego has those big Golden ears, so he is going be more prone to ear infections. Sad to say its effecting his hearing. We have to repeat ourselfs alot, and we know he knows his commands, he just can not hear us. Hopefully it will go away when the infections is gone.
On Saturday Oswego go his big boy vest, the vest that allows him to go out in public. The first place he went was to church, of course everyone was excitied to meet OZZIE. It was a good thing we got the vest before church, cause every time we go to church everyone expects us to have a dog with us. Since Solly left we weren't able to take a dog on errands with us. It was so weird without a dog. Shopping went faster then usually, I didn't have people asking us questiong and stuff, but I am glad we can take Oswego out.
Yesterday Oswego went out to eat with us. It was causal, place, so it was good to work with Oswego. He did great!!!!!! Then after that instead of Oswego's morning nap, we were outside raking leaves. Oswego hated the leave blower he hid in the garage. But we will work with him more on it. The neighbors were over at our house there little kids, and Oswego had a blast chasing them around. It was about 4pm, I was surprised that Oswego didn't collaspe cause he has been on the move since 6am. Then we had to distribute flyers and we took Oswego on a walk, that was a good 30minutes walk. As soon as we got home Oswego eat dinner and fell asleep. We put him to bed at 8pm and he slept the entire night, which was GREAT!
This morning Oswego went to school with me. We left him in the Kennel room for a 5minutes which was a bad Idea, he ripped everything apart. I was left to clean it up. Oswego May have seperation anixety.

I do not think Oswego has figured it out, that Solly has left. I think he think Solly is on Vacation and will be back.

Yesterday, we brought out all the puppy toys. We had put them away because Solly would rip them apart. We gave Oswego about 10 new toys. He didn't know what to do....which one to play with. We did some training with him.... he is a very smart boy!

Hey guys!
Yesterday we had a CCI outting, One of the puppy raisers got a James River Bus for us, so the pups could ride around town in it. Oswego did a great Job, he just followed Solly.
It was funny when we were trying to take a picture in front of the Christmas tree, in the Science Musuem, we had to try to get 10 dogs to stay still just to take a picture. Thinking that these pups are already trained we thought it would take only a minute. That minute turned into 20minutes. It was soo funny, But Oswego and Solly stayed put the entire time which was AWESOME, this one pup Peg refuse to sit next to a service dog it was funny!, Then we had an anti social pup,that would be MR. Sherman, we had a couple pictures of him with his butt first. But finally we got the picture we wanted!
Oswego meet another black lab like him, he name was Zellic 3months old, yes another CCI pup!
I have all the pictures on our other computer I will upload them sometime soon.

Last Night I was refilling Oswego's food bin, when if fell over right next to Oswego cause Of Course Oswego thought it was dinner time again, Well when it fell over it gave him a heartattack, it scaried him soo much, so the entire night he avoided it. We put some treats in and still wouldd not eat it. I think Oswego was having a rough night,

I can make a difference by being a puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence. A puppy raiser is a person who raises service dogs, trains them, and then hands them over to a person who needs them. I am currently raising two service dogs. The reason I chose to become a puppy raiser is I wanted to help people that could not help themselves. I wanted the experience of going through the process of how service dogs are trained. I also wanted to teach the public about service dogs.
In March 2006 my family went to see a program about service dogs. At the program they kept saying that they needed puppy raisers. They said that these dogs were wonderful dogs to work with, and that disabled people were waiting years for the miracle dogs to come to them. Puppy raisers are volunteers who commit their time and money for raising the puppies.
Our first puppy is named Solly and he is a golden lab cross. We have had him for seventeen months. In this time I have taught him to do many basic puppy commands and have good public behavior. I am required to socialize him with people and places. Not only does it help the puppy, it also helps the public learn about these dogs and about the Canine Companions for Independence mission. As puppy raisers we are asked to present at schools, clubs, and facilities. When presenting we teach about the process of becoming a puppy raiser, or different types of service dogs.
When we go in public the first thing people ask us is how we can give this puppy up. This is where making the difference comes in. When I first got this puppy I kept on saying to myself, this dog is going toward something good. It will make a difference in someone else’s life. The puppy will help someone become more independent. Next month Solly will go to Advance Training, and will learn to open and shut doors, turn on and off light switches, and retrieve dropped objects. These are some of the command he will learn. By the end of six months Solly will have learned over fifty commands. He will be ready to be matched up with a handicapped or disabled person.
There are many ways to make a difference in the world, and I chose to be a puppy raiser. Many people say that is a hard thing to do. Being a puppy raiser for the very first time has been a wonderful experience. Turn in will be hard, but I will look toward the bigger picture and remember why I am doing this.

Hey ya'll guess what Oswego came to my Veterinary Science Class today. They were going do babysit him for the rest of the day since no one was at home to baby sit him!
Oswego loved the FERRETS! ALl he wanted to do was chase them and play with them!.
He wasn't sure about the chinchilla, he was kinda smacking it around! The cat in the room slapped Oswego a couple of time, of Course of oswego didn't get the clue, but that our boy!

He was so exhausted after yesterday!

On sunday Oswego went to the ST. Francis Blessing of the Animals and he did great!

Oswego has learned to Speak and Shake! He loves doing those. I like using the Shake command to get SOlly's attention!

Family Weekend at Roanoke College

Hey
Ya'll this weekend we are spending our 3 days at Roanoke College for Family weeked. My older Sister (Jenna) goes there so we are going down to visit her.
Oswego and Solly packed up and came with us.
Oswego did very well during the 3hour Car trip.

Today he is very exhausted he has been moving all morning and has missed his morning nap. Now is is taking a nap in Jenna's dorm. We went to watch a soccer game he did enjoy it, until he fell asleep.

Yesterday Oswego turned 4months.

We have to run Now to go out to eat. While we are doing that Oswego will be resting up.
ASAP i will put up the pictures of this weekend.

Hey guys sorry we haven't updated we have been very busy getting into back to School routine.

Oswego has already planned his Halloween costume.

I have been busy making a Book for our other CCI pup Solly before he goes off to college in November. Its a website that allows to to make a book. Mypublisher.com its really cool, Iam starting off from the pictures we got from the breedercaretaker then going all the way up until after turn in. Then you send in the picture you got together and these people will make it for you. So you do all the desiging and writing and stuff and they put it together.

Hello

Oswego and the family just got back from Roanoke College. The oldest sister Jenna was heading back for her second year. Oswego and SOlly got to hang out in a dorm and watch everyone move in. Oswego was the center of attention everyone loved Oswego and Oswego loved the attention. He was very good in the 3hour car trip slept the entire way.

Tonight Oswego is going to puppy class. He is learning lots but has not really stuck to him. He kows his name, sit, and wait. We need to work more with him but have not had the chance lately. Because we have had 2 CCI pups over that we have been watching and that was hecked. But Oswego did enjoy playing with them. I love it Oswego thinks he is a 70lb dog trying to play rought but nope.

I will put up more pictures.

After Sept 1st i will be putting up more pictures then post. and once or twice a month i will right an update

After moving around to puppy raisers so many times while we were on vacation . Oswego is now home with us. He hasn't grown much, but is having food problems, Oswego is on energetic puppy. He is very vocal compared to our other puppy. He is learning to respond to his name. He knows how to sit, and wait very well. He is going to the vet tomorrow for his very first round of shots.

His cci buddies Alexandra, and Abba are over cause their prs are away on vacation.

Oswego visited where i worked today. When he gets older Solly and Oswego can hang out at work with me. We are trying to sign Oswego up for puppy class asap

My first morning! With my new puppy raisers and I loved it! I woke up at 6am wanting to go out and play! Solly finally opened up to me and now he plays with me. He really big but he knows to be careful with baby me.
